The Cliffs of Moher

One of the most dramatic and unique places in the world, the Cliffs of Moher looks like they have sliced over time by the forces of nature. At their highest point, the cliffs stand at 215m high and they stretch for about 8 km along the coast. It is one of the world’s most visited natural attractions, therefore, be sure to expect a busy place when getting there. What makes this location even more beautiful is the fact that it’s located on the western coast of Ireland, which during sunset, offers a great view of the Atlantic Ocean. Because of their dramatic look, the Cliffs of Moher were featured a lot in popular media, such as the famous Harry Potter movies.

While the landscape itself is unique, it also comes with its own stories and folklore such as the legend of the Hag and Cú Chulainn. The story about a witch by the name of Mal who fell in love with Cu Chulainn, a legendary warrior who was a part of a larger band of warriors. He attracted the attention of the witch Mal. While the witch loved him, he did not share the same feelings for her, and she chased him around the country. As one last effort to escape the witch, Cu Chulainn jumped across to an island located at the southern part of the Cliffs of Moher. The witch also jumped over to him. He jumped back and she soon followed, however, this time, the wind did not help her reach the other side and she fell. The location of where she fell is now known as the Hag’s Head.

The Rock of Cashel

One of Ireland’s most visited historic sites, The Rock of Cashel has played an important part throughout the history of Ireland. One impressive structure to take notice would be the Gothic cathedral present here. Built during the 1200s, it was used as a place for worship until the late 1700s. Even older than the cathedral is Cormac’s Chapel which began construction during the 1100s. To this day, colorful frescoes are still present in the chapel. For a few hundred years, this area has been the seat of the Kings of Muster before the Normans invaded. The architecture stands out and it is considered one of the most influential examples of Gothic art and medieval architecture in Europe.

The Casino in Dublin

No trip to Ireland is completed without visiting Dublin. The city has many attractions all year round and tourists can enjoy a wide variety of activities.
